The Story
Prior to Timely, co-founders Ryan and Andrew built BookIt — a booking engine for the New Zealand tourism industry. In 2010, BookIt was acquired by Fairfax and became the software behind the travel division of Trade Me, New Zealand‘s largest ecommerce site.
During this time we were asked by a lot of small business owners if we could provide a similar solution for other industries like clinics, salons, gyms, trades and so on. There was clearly a lot of pain being experienced, with existing solutions being cumbersome and expensive.
So, we built Timely — simple, affordable and reliable appointment software for small businesses. As Timely has grown, we've focused our offering to help established and growing salons and spas, specifically.
The Mantlepiece
While our Number 1 obsession is making great software to help our customers, it doesn't hurt to have something shiny to put on the mantlepiece. We've been humbled by the recognition we have received from the local tech and business communities.
Sales Operations
Hi I’m Adam
Head of Direct Sales
Null.
Creative Director
I’ve been doing design for 20+ years and still love playing with colour, form, language and typography. My job is to make sure the Timely brand is delightful and tickles people just right.
I love time with family and friends and most any kind of art, creativity or making. My first love is music and I definitely believe in The Party Life.

Sales Development Representative
Hi I’m Alex and I’m part of the sales team at Timely! I completed a BCOM majoring in Marketing at Victoria University of Wellington but almost quit half way through to take up a hairdressing apprenticeship. I have a serious passion for the hair and beauty industry!
I love the beauty and wellness industry and the people who work in it, so it’s really rewarding for me to hear from our clients that Timely is making a significantly positive impact in their work life! I’ve recently moved to Melbourne from Wellington so when I’m not in the office you’ll find me sightseeing, discovering new restaurants, watching documentaries, working out, shopping or drawing.
Customer Support Specialist
Hi, I’m Alison and I’m excited to be joining Timely after honing my support skills at Trade Me for the last few years. Customer support is a passion of mine and I love to be able to think outside the box to find solutions, and make people happy! I’ve just moved back to Dunedin after 6 or so years with my partner and our cats so we can be a bit closer to family.
Head of Product Design
I’m hard at work making sure that the features in the Timely app are always beautiful and easy-to-use. If you notice that your dashboard is looking cleaner, some features are better laid out, or that the menu is looking more organised, that was probably me!
Before joining the team, I worked as a designer at Southgate Labs, a company formed by tech entrepreneurs Rowan Simpson, Michael Koziarski, and Amnon Ben-Or to help fledgling software businesses to grow. I have experience in both design and development, and previously worked building iPhone apps, websites, and SaaS apps.
When I’m is not dissecting lines of code at Timely or designing new pages, I’m usually lifting weights at the gym, reading crime-comedy novels, and occasionally getting amongst some salsa dancing!

Co-Founder and CTO
Although my profile says Andrew, I’m actually known as Scoff at Timely, despite being the first Andrew in the company. I love getting to see Timely grow into a global company, and watching people all around the world fall in love with the app.
Before co-founding Timely, I built up BookIt along with the Timely CEO, Ryan Baker. BookIt is a booking system for tourism, and was purchased by Trade Me in 2010.
Outside of work, I spend my time free time hanging out with family, or buzzing around in planes. I am also learning Mandarin.
Head of Support / Privacy Officer
I have the privilege of looking after our fantastic Support team. My job is to help them deliver a great experience solving our customers’ issues. No problem is too big or difficult and we’ll happily provide an answer as quick as we can.
My other capacity is as privacy officer where I help ensure we protect our customers’ information and comply with international privacy regulations.
Outside of Timely, it’s family, cats and music that keeps me sane and old man football that keeps me sore.
Say hey on Twitter!
Inbound Marketing Manager
I’m Andrew, the Inbound Marketing Manager. I’ve got a background in digital marketing, with a focus on writing. It’s my job to spread the word about Timely to all those who may benefit from it.
Outside of work I enjoy exploring New Zealand’s native bush, snowboarding, cooking, video games, working out, and playing poker! I’m also a huge movie/TV nerd and have dabbled in writing screenplays and filmmaking.
Bookkeeper/Accountant
Hi I’m Ange and I’m super happy to be part of the finance team at Timely. I started my career in the fashion industry and owned a small boutique in Cuba Mall, Wellington before finding myself in the tech space. I’ve worked for a few start-ups in my finance life including Vend, The Last Pickle, and Southgate Labs.
When I’m not working I love pouring over my cookbooks and finding interesting and yummy things to cook. I am passionate about electronic music.
People Experience and Event Coordinator
Hello! I’m one of the People & Culture team, busy helping my workmates, organising events and being generally helpful (probably while downing coffee!).
Outside of rescuing Timely workers, I love singing, cooking, musical theatre, reading, watching bad TV, and my cats. I’m thinking about becoming qualified as a makeup artist and getting back into playing the double-bass. I’m also pretty mean at Settlers of Catan and am always ready for a Bananagrams challenge!

Sales Development Representative
Hi, I’m Ben. I’m part of the Timely sales team and I’m all about ensuring we get customers off their feet with the best software for their business and guiding them into the right hands when they need some help! I’ve been in sales for a few years but after entering the SaaS industry with Timely, I’ve seen a more customer-focused side to sales.
When I’m not helping out our lovely customers I’m usually found getting involved in a bit of sport, travelling overseas or at the G, deluding myself into thinking that the Dees are about to play a consistently good game of footy!
Developer
Hi, I’m Ben Chartrand. Before joining Timely I spent 10+ years in the aviation sector as a developer, team lead & solution architect working on booking systems, aviation maintenance systems and more.
I’m extremely passionate about teaching kids (and teachers!) about coding and technology. I run a Code Club from my daughter’s school.
I’m originally from Canada. I may not be available when Team Canada is playing at the Olympics.
When I’m not touching a computer I love to spend time with my family in the great outdoors and learning about science, technology and history.
Customer Support Specialist
Danni was excited to join Timely because of our people-focused ethos, both team and customer. She’s also super proud to say it all started in her hometown, Dunedin.
Before Timely, Danni helped Vodafone customers with their technical problems and just loves working with people. She’s hit the ground running, and might have already helped a few of you out of a jam.
When she’s not learning everything she needs to know about the Timely app, she is very family focused, loves a wee jam, and loves spending time with her husband and daughter. Danni’s excited about being able to see more of her daughter – including not picking her up from daycare in the later hours!
Whenever you have your next Timely query, there’s a good chance that Danni will get back to you with a solution wrapped in joy, sparkles and fluffies.
Head of Platform
Before coming to Timely, I was the Head of Database at Trade Me, the most visited website in New Zealand.
I’m originally from a little town called Margate in South Africa, having moved to NZ in 2003. I have 3 daughters and have been a database guy since 2002.
When I’m not wrangling 1’s and 0’s at Timely HQ, you’ll probably find me in the gym lifting heavy pieces of iron (or punching some defenceless sand-filled leather bags), out on the road (or in the dirt) on some kind of motorcycle, or pretending to be a coffee and/or beer connoisseur. Usually not at the same time.
Customer Support Specialist
Well hello, I’m Emily!
I have the fantastic job of taking care of Timely support in the UK – So if you’re based in the UK and have any questions or problems, get in touch and I’ll do my best to help you out!
Working for Timely is a dream, I get to be at home a lot more with my partner and our fur-baby, Daisy, as well as doing my best to put some smiles on some faces and make Timely work for you.
Outside of my office I love art, music and I love to sing… But I’m not so sure people love listening to it. I’m also an avid writer!
Say ‘Hey!’ to me on LinkedIn.
Senior Marketing Manager
Hi I’m Georgie. I am the Senior Marketing Manager at Timely which means I work on everything from our presence at major expos through to our Ambassador programme, and more. The variety of my role and what we do to help our customers (give them more time in to do the things they love!) is what made me really excited to join Timely.
When I am not working I love to spend my time travelling, I have just come back to New Zealand after living in London for 6 years, so am looking forward to exploring closer to home for now. I also love to keep active, whether it be running, yoga or getting out onto some our our beautiful trail walks.
People Experience Lead
It’s my role to ensure everyone has a memorable and positive experience during their Timely career.
Social Media Coordinator
Bonjour, je m’appelle Harry comme le sorcier. That means: Hello, my name is Harry like the wizard.
I am the social media guy at Timely. I’ve been living and breathing social for the last 5 years which has allowed me to dive deep into the intricacies of this new and developing marketing channel.
I believe that social media reflects the quality of your business, therefore to claim the top spot in your customer’s top-of-mind awareness, you must be delivering an creative and effective strategy.
When I’m not creating social content, you can find me at the beach, on the mountain or behind the lens.
Customer Support Specialist
Knowing Timely is assisting to make business owners day-to-day lives that little bit easier, was a massive draw for me. Combine that with the amazing product and the awesome work culture, you could definitely say I was excited to join the Timely crew!
Having spent years in customer service, in industries like telecommunications and banking, I’m stoked to be able to continue on the front line with the Support team! I love dealing with queries and investigating tricky scenarios, and am always happy to help!
Head of Sales
I look after the amazing Inside Sales crew at Timely, and oversee all aspects of a customer’s trial experience. My team is continually raising the bar on helpful, accessible, friendly onboarding support, and I’m pretty proud of them. Our goal is to get businesses rolling with Timely as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Before Timely, I co-founded a web and software development company that was acquired by the original founders of YouTube. I then spent a year on the Silicon Valley rollercoaster in project management and operations roles, before switching focus for a while to work as a marketing manager at a local company. After taking some time off, I grabbed the opportunity to become one of Timely’s first employees and got stuck into making life awesome for our triallers.
I have a young family – two boys and an adorable baby girl – and am into fitness, photography, good food and coffee (because without it, how can you possibly parent effectively?).
Design and Delivery Lead
As Design & Delivery Lead my role involves leading and managing the creative team to deliver projects that grow the brand and help Timely meet its goals, by standing out in market and communicating creativity, excellence, and the value of the product offering itself.
Product Owner
My job at Timely is to make our product awesome! I spend my time chatting with customers about upcoming features, digging into requirements, and generally obsessing about making Timely the best appointment booking software out there.
I came to Timely from the University of Otago, where I was in charge of the HR Division’s online presence. I’ve been lucky enough to have a range of experience in some awesome roles, which have all contributed to where I am now.
When I’m not in front of my laptop, you’ll find me spending time with my husband and dog, gardening, cooking or (in the winter) on the slopes looking for some snowboarding action.
Chief Product and Marketing Officer
Hey! I’m Jo. I work with the product, design, and marketing teams as the Chief Product and Marketing Officer. Building technology solutions for small businesses to help them succeed is my jam – and seeing our customers get more time back to do the things they love is really satisfying.
I like to dream big and challenge the way things are done, rather than replicating the features, functionality, and marketing of our competitors. That’s what attracted me to Timely.
Before Timely, I was the Global Product Marketing Manager at Xero, focused on driving customer growth, product adoption, and revenue across geographic regions. Before that, I spent four years working for another hair and beauty tech business, where I got to understand many of the challenges and motivators of the folks in this industry.
Outside the Timely rocket, I like to jump on planes and explore the world, hike some of the great NZ walking tracks, and support the small biz economy in Wellington through my coffee addiction!
Front End Developer
I work in the Dev Team at Timely, developing the UI for exciting new features. I also add polish and enhance existing features to the application’s UI. I feel extremely privileged to work with so many people who are experts in their field, and are all super friendly to boot!
Before Timely, I worked at Xero in the Front End Development Team. I was drawn to Timely as their values resonate strongly with my own. I love that Timely genuinely cares for and values their staff and customers.
I spend most of time with my friends and family, and enjoy sewing my own clothes. I also love spending as much time as possible at the beach over summer!
Head of Delivery
My role at Timely is pretty varied, from helping customers with support tickets right through to scoping and building the new features that make Timely such a great system. Working as part of a distributed team is great as it comes with a lot of flexibility so I can balance my work and personal life.
Before Timely, I worked as the Lead Developer for BookIt and Travelbug, both part of the Trade Me Travel division. This is where I met some of the other Timely crew – Andrew, Ryan and Will. I jumped at the chance to get involved with Timely in its early stages!
Outside of work, I’m mad keen on cycling. Not road racing or mountain biking, it’s more about just riding around on my bike for the day-to-day stuff. I fell in love with cycling somewhere during my 23,500km bicycle ride from London to Bangkok (see Rolling Tales). I also like drinking dark beer, fixing up my 100-year-old house and squeezing in as many of the awesome events around Wellington as I can.

Customer Team Lead UK
I’m on board to ensure that our customer service team keeps delivering our usual A+ standard of service. Previous clients have said that my gift is in helping those who are new to technology to understand it, which I was pretty chuffed to hear. You’ll find me on hand and ready to help with Timely. You might even have a quick yarn with me right now on our live chat!
When I’m not simultaneously helping hundreds of business owners to get started using Timely, you’ll find me enjoying Dunedin with my fiancé and new baby, attempting DIY on our new home, or spending time with friends and family.
Test Analyst
Hello! I’m Keri, I work with the development teams at Timely as a Test Analyst. I love working as part of a team to deliver a quality product that customers love.
Prior to working for Timely I worked for Xero. This is where I learnt the importance of automation and delivering quality software at scale.
Outside of work you will find me hanging with my family and friends. I play a little social indoor netball and enjoying a spot of gardening.
Senior Tester
I was originally attracted to Timely by the small, tightly knit team and the flexible work environment that only remote working can give. And boy, am I glad I joined!
Getting new features tested thoroughly before they go out the door is a big part of making a good product, and that’s what I get to do all day. I used to be a Senior Test Analyst at Trade Me, and was a Test Analyst at the Ministry of Justice before that.
When I’m not putting Timely to the test, you might find me powerlifting, playing a bit of rugby, or gaming. But most likely, spending time with my family. Lately I’ve been teaching my toddler how to dance so this could get entertaining!
Connect with me on LinkedIn.
General Manager
I’m the one that hands out the paychecks, so everyone at Timely assures me I’m their favourite.
I look after payroll, HR, accounts and general admin at Timely. Previously I was an account manager at Trade Me and handled the major tourism accounts.
Connect with me on Twitter.
Account Executive
I work with the Onboarding team, helping new triallers and customers figure out what Timely’s all about and how it can help their businesses. It’s a pleasure to work with such a creative, forward-thinking team, continually raising the standard for friendly, helpful customer service.
Before Timely, I worked at the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in London, then at Glenmore Lodge in Scotland, and did administration and web content for the University of Otago Business School. Plus a lot of travelling in between!
Now that I’m back in Dunedin, I spend most of time with my friends and family and renovating my home. I also love getting out into the snow with my board in the winter!
You can chat with me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Digital marketer
I’m Mei, Timely’s Digital Marketing Specialist. If I’m not playing with analytics, spreadsheets or UTM strings then I’m usually scrolling through a multitude of digital tools and hacks.
I have a passion for digital advertising and am always on the look out for the next best advertising platform. Even though I love spreadsheets and looking at number growth, I was a terrible maths student at school!
Recently I finished up a 10 month trip around the USA in a van while freelancing. If I’m not travelling I can usually be found out on a football field, hiking the Waitakere Ranges or getting out on the water in my inflatable kayak.
Director
Mike is currently the Executive Director of Government to Government Ventures, a crown owned company jointly operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and NZ Trade and Enterprise. Mike also holds several positions as director or board member for Serato, Tourism New Zealand and Raygun.
In previous lives Mike was COO of Trade Me, and also held senior roles at Gareth Morgan Investments, AMP Capital Investors and AMP New Zealand.
Mike is a father of two, a published author, newspaper columnist, blogger, and has still found time to motorcycle Australia, the Indian Himalayas, the North American Artic and Central America.

Business Development (UK)
I joined Timely to help business owners who don’t have enough time to work more efficiently, and I get to do lots of that at Timely! The people, product, service and customers make working for Timely an absolute pleasure.
Fresh from a Sports Marketing degree at Leeds Metropolitan University, I worked for software companies in the UK, USA and New Zealand. My time working in the Big Apple was a personal highlight.
When I’m not in the Timely UK office, I’m a big sports fanatic and am currently rehabilitating my ‘glass’ knee from a number of reoccurring knee injuries on Hampstead Heath (London) in time for the football season. On that note, Chelsea for the title! In Jose Mourinho we trust.
Infrastructure Engineer
Kia ora, I’m Nick and I’m an Infrastructure Engineer in the Database and Platforms Team at Timely.
In a past life, I’ve worked on some cool projects such as the learning platform Lt, and the rollout of the LiveScan, Booze Bus and ABIS projects for the NZ Police. I’ve also tutored B.I.T students at the Otago Polytechnic for Cisco certification exams, and Python development.
When I’m away from my keyboard, you’ll more than likely find me spending time with my wife and my daughter, or riding my motorcycle.
Chief Operating Officer
Hi! I’m Paul, but you can call me Shing. I’m Timely’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and I’ve joined Timely to help put fuel in the Timely 🚀. I love growing businesses fast. Real fast. Prior to Timely I was the COO of Pushpay, a hyper growth mobile payments business born in New Zealand but grown in the USA. This has given me experience running a high growth, fast scaling business and I’m looking forward to bringing this to Timely.
At its heart, growing a business rapidly is all about having great product, that solves a real customer problem, which surprises and delights our customers. Timely has that in spades. Our team are extremely focused on making our customers look good, and be organised. We’re all in on making our customers lives easier and making them look professional.
I’m looking forward to helping the Timely team grow, and to continue to surprise and delight more and more customers every day.
When I’m not fueling the Timely 🚀 I’m being a Dad to two cheeky children and attempting to be a caring and attentive husband to my wonderful wife (you’ll have to ask her whether I’m doing a good job at that). Other than that you’ll find me following the Formula 1 racing with great interest. I love the juxtaposition of innovation, technology, and reliability in the crucible of weekly or fortnightly competition.
Product Marketing Manager
Hello, I’m Pip and I have the best role at Timely as I get to chat to most of the lovely Timely team. As the Product Marketing Manager I sit between the product and marketing teams ensuring what we’re creating fulfills a need or solves a problem of our customers’ and that our marketing, sales and support teams have the right tools to enable them to promote our products to our target market.
As the only female in a household of boys I love that Timely focuses on the spa and salon industry and take every opportunity to escape and visit our customers. When I’m away from Timely you’ll find me hanging out on the soccer sideline, running the trails around Wellington or when we’re lucky hitting the slopes around Queenstown.
Developer
After almost finishing a chemistry degree at Victoria University, I tried a first year Computer Science paper on a whim and never looked back. I spent nearly 6 years at Trade Me honing my development skills before being a full-time dad for a year.
I’ve kept an eye on Timely ever since their first release, and I love being part of a team that cares so much about its customers, its product, and its staff. I’m also excited to double the number of Dunedin developers!
Director
Rowan is a software developer and investor who is passionate about creating great products that people love to use.
Rowan has been involved as an investor and employee in a number of iconic high-growth technology businesses in New Zealand, including Trade Me and Xero. He was one of the original investors in Vend and Timely, and continues to work closely with the founders of these businesses.
Prior to all of this, Rowan completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Victoria University of Wellington.
Rowan proudly lives in New Zealand with his wife and two sons.
Connect with Rowan on Twitter.
Co-Founder and CEO
Co-founder and CEO of Timely, Ryan lives and breathes our values and brings a big vision for Timely. Passionate about helping beauty become a trillion dollar industry and increasing the wealth of all the amazing people in the industry. We’re still fixing up his old code.
Prior to Timely, Ryan helped Scoff (Andrew Schofield) build another booking system for the tourism industry, which was acquired in 2010. That was a great experience and led us to Timely.
When Ryan’s not busy waving the Timely pom-poms you will find him chasing, or being chased by, one of his four sons.
Developer
I joined the Timely team as the first South Island developer. The combination of startup energy and long-term planning at Timely, plus the awesome culture, was a huge draw for me.
I spent several years helping software startups as a freelance developer, working with Microsoft, Vista, Ogilvy and ProjectManager.com, among others.
When I’m not creating new features for the app, I like mountain biking and might (might) be training for a marathon.

Sales Development Representative
Hi, I’m Sally! I’m the first point of contact for our UK customers and aim to get their Timely experience off to the best start possible. Before Timely I spent time traveling and working abroad before settling back in the UK as a fashion merchandiser. I love the fashion world but I’m happy that now I have more opportunity to interact with people and not just product.
When I’m not chatting to our lovely triallers I’m often found burning energy on the tennis court, paddle boarding or out on the bike. I love to travel and am constantly on the look out for the next adventure.
iOS Developer
I joined the team as the resident iOS guy. I’ve been working on iOS development for over 7 years — ever since the App Store was first launched!
I built my first app on iPhoneOS 2: a love calculator. It was a huge hit at University! More recently I worked at Vend, where I got to work on their beautiful Register app.
If I’m not noodling with iOS stuff, you’ll find me scaling rock faces and wandering around mountain peaks.
Developer
Hello! Im Sam, I work as a full stack developer within the dev team at Timely.
Attracted by the great culture, work life balance, talent, and the amazing product Timely has to offer. I joined Timely after two years at Z energy working as a .NET developer.
Quickly after joining Timely I got straight to work building awesome new features for Timely and the amazing customers who use Timely.
When I’m not writing code, you can find me at the beach, surfing, fishing or enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy a bit of gaming, movies, or just spending time with friends and family.
Account Executive
I joined Timely after a few years working in a technical role, where I got to flex my IT knowledge but never really got to chat with customers as much as I wanted to. At Timely, I get the best of both worlds! I spend a lot of my day figuring out how to make switching to Timely easy and painless for customers.
In my spare time I really enjoy coffee (seems I fit right into the team!), photography, skateboarding, and exploring. Above all, I love spending time with my wife and daughter, so I’m a huge fan of the #timelylife.
You can chat with me on Twitter and Instagram.
DEVELOPER
I joined Timely after three and a half years at TradeMe doing .NET development and a cheeky ‘gap year’ doing iOS development. Lured by the talent, culture and amazing product which this company has to offer, I’m now building cool stuff and learning from a bunch of very talented people.
Outside of work I dabble in competitive hugging (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), spend a bit too much time playing games, and enjoy a good cider in the sun with friends.

Head of Marketing
Hi there, I’m Sarah and I’m thrilled to be part of the Marketing team at Timely. Understanding our customers through data and connecting with them is really important to me and underpins all that we do as marketers. Prior to Timely I was a Senior Marketing Manager at Xero, and have many years experience in the financial services industry under my belt.
When I am not living and breathing customer research and data I am wrangling my four children, and their many sports and busy social life. On the rare occasion I get some free time I’ll head up Mt KauKau for a walk or get on my SUP board for a paddle.
Chief Product Officer
Gidday, I’m Simon. I’m the Chief Product Officer at Timely where my job is to ensure we are building products that solve real customer problems and products that create innovative opportunities for businesses. I’m generally very passionate about all things tech that makes peoples lives easier.
I love working at Timely because of my incredibly smart and wonderful colleagues, the awesome industry we work in and the work life balance we achieve.
My background is working in tech and product companies (Digitas, Cisco, Trade Me and PaperKite) since 2005 – specialising in project management, digital marketing management and seo, and since 2014, in product management.
Outside of Timely I do a lot of classical singing, playing golf, fishing, woodwork, watching sport and spending most of my time with my family.
People Experience Lead
Hi, I’m Vanessa and I’m the People Experience Lead. As Timely grows it’s so important to us that we keep our culture and values strong, and continue to be a great place to work! That’s where I come in.
Outside of this (and when I’m not in front of a screen) I love to be active so you’ll regularly find me working out, doing yoga, or getting into the outdoors. I also love to cook and I think I make an excellent plate of plant-based nachos.
Co-Founder and Product Manager
What I love most about my job at Timely is that I have a hand in building and designing something that brings joy to so many Timely users. That’s the ultimate job satisfaction to me!
Before Timely, I spent just over the last decade programming and designing web applications. Most recently, I managed the team of developers responsible for http://touch.trademe.co.nz, Trade Me’s touch-focused mobile website. WIill also sat on the Trade Me software architecture board. Prior to this, I held senior developer roles at Trade Me leading projects ranging from site redesigns to major infrastructure overhauls.
Outside of work, I rely heavily on coffee (largely responsible for helping me inside of work as well, if I’m being honest). I also love to travel and have spent a fair amount of time living outside of New Zealand. Most recently, I was lucky enough to spend 2013 working remotely from the island of Malta. That’s actually part of why Timely was born as a remote company!
In previous lives, I captained an ice hockey team, lived off the Swedish government and at one point performed regularly on stage to wide indifference.
